Mastering the Art of Eyelash Extensions : Tips and Tricks for Success

Pursuing a career as an eyelash esthetician comes with incredible benefits. Not only can you earn a great salary, but you also get to enjoy flexible hours and work with some of the most influential people in the industry.

Sounds like the perfect career, right?

While it doesn’t take an expensive degree to become a lash artist, it does require one important factor that will set you up for success : practice.

Here are some tips and tricks to help you succeed in your new career.

1. Professional Training

Before grabbing those tweezers, it’s crucial to get professional training from an experienced mentor or by enrolling in a masterclass. This will give you the opportunity to learn all the necessary skills and techniques for applying lash extensions safely and effectively.

Your teacher will also be able to provide you with valuable feedback, share their experience in the eyelash industry, and answer any questions you might have.

2. Practice, Practice, Practice.

Okay, so you’ve found an incredible mentor who has shown you all of the ins and outs of the eyelash industry. Congratulations! You are one step closer to becoming an artist.

The next step is to practice as much as possible. Practicing on mannequins or training lashes is an excellent way to perfect your technique before beginning to work on live models. Focus on mastering the placement and separation of individual lashes, as well as the proper use of glue and tweezers. Remember consistency is key. Practicing consistently will help you improve your skills.

    3. Working on Live Models.

After you’ve practiced on mannequins. It’s time for the next big step, live models! Ask your friends or family if they would be willing to let you practice on them in exchange for a free eyelash set. This is a win-win situation because you get to practice on real people, and your friends get to walk out with a beautiful new set of lashes.

After you have finished a set on a live model, ask for feedback from your client.

    Ask your client,

“How did you feel about your experience?”

“Are you satisfied with your new set?”

“How can I improve in the future?”

Keep an open mind and remember that their response will help you grow and develop your skills.

    4. Document Your Progress

Another key to success is to document your progress and work. When you finish a set on a live model, take a picture and send it to your mentor or an experienced eyelash expert and ask for their honest feedback. ( Psst. our academy offers three month support after enrolling in a masterclass!) Take in their advice and use it to improve your technique for future lash extensions.

Remember, becoming an eyelash technician is an exciting journey, but it requires commitment, practice, and ongoing education. Be sure to stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices, and always prioritize the health and safety of your clients. With hard work and dedication, you can become a successful lash artist and build a rewarding career in the beauty industry.
